Description
The Chelsea Grande is a 990mm copper outdoor wall lantern with clear polycarbonate glazing, a decorative finial top, and a scrolled black aluminium bracket. The lantern is oriented upwards, directing light back onto the wall to highlight architectural detail and provide ambient illumination around doorways, porches and covered exterior walls.
Designed for traditional and period-style properties where authentic detailing matters, the Chelsea Grande uses a four-sided tapering copper body that naturally develops a patina over time as the metal oxidises. The copper is left unlacquered so it ages from its initial polished copper tone through warmer browns to eventual verdigris if exposed to wet coastal or industrial environments. The clear polycarbonate lens resists impact better than glass and maintains clarity in all weather.
The black powder-coated aluminium bracket extends 520mm from the wall and carries the weight of the copper lantern on a scrolled support that references Victorian street furniture. The bracket is fixed to the wall first, then the lantern body attaches via a separate collar, making bulb changes and maintenance straightforward. The IP44 rating protects the lampholder and internal wiring from dust and water splashes, making the fitting suitable for covered exterior positions including under eaves, porch canopies and recessed doorways.
The E27 lampholder accepts standard Edison screw bulbs up to 60W — most installations pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 6-8W and 2200K-2700K to suit the traditional aesthetic. The Chelsea collection includes matching pillar mounts, pendant lanterns and smaller wall variants, allowing a cohesive lighting scheme across front elevations, gateways and garden paths.

Frequently Asked
Will the copper change colour over time?
Yes. The copper is unlacquered, so it oxidises naturally when exposed to moisture and air. It will develop a darker brown patina within months and may eventually develop a green verdigris in coastal or industrial areas. This is a characteristic feature of the material, not a defect.
What IP rating does it carry and where can it be installed?
The lantern is rated IP44, which protects against dust and water splashes. It is suitable for covered exterior positions such as under eaves, porch canopies and recessed doorways. It is not rated for fully exposed positions without overhead protection.
What bulb should I use?
The E27 lampholder accepts any standard Edison screw bulb up to 60W. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 6-8W and 2200K-2700K to suit the traditional aesthetic and minimise running costs.
How is the lantern fitted and are bulbs easy to change?
The black aluminium bracket is fixed to the wall first, then the lantern body attaches via a separate collar. The lantern lifts off the bracket for bulb changes without needing to remove the wall fixings.
