The Chelsea Grande is an 880mm pedestal lantern handcrafted from solid copper with a clear polycarbonate lens and a single E27 socket. The copper frame features decorative acanthus-leaf corner brackets, a multi-tiered domed top with a flame finial, and a cast-metal base finished in black. The lantern sits on a 320mm-square plinth designed to cap brick or stone piers, gate posts, or masonry pillars.

Designed for residential driveways, front gardens, and entrance gates, the Chelsea Grande provides both functional illumination and architectural presence. The IP44 rating protects the internal components from dust and water splashes, allowing year-round outdoor installation in typical UK weather. The E27 socket accepts any standard bulb up to 60W (sold separately), giving flexibility to choose LED, halogen or filament styles depending on the desired light temperature and energy consumption.

The copper develops a natural patina over time, shifting from the initial polished rose-gold tone visible when new to darker bronze and eventually verdigris green as the metal oxidises. What size pier or post does it fit?

The 320mm-square plinth is designed to cap brick or stone piers, gate posts, or masonry pillars of approximately 300mm square. The base has fixing holes for bolting down to the pier top, and the bottom of the plinth is open to allow cable access from inside the pier.

What bulb is recommended?

The E27 socket accepts any standard bulb up to 60W. Most users pair this with a 6-10W warm-white LED bulb at 2700K for ambient garden lighting, or a clear filament-style LED for a traditional lantern appearance.

Is the lens made from glass?

No. The lens is clear polycarbonate, which is more impact-resistant than glass and less likely to break from knocks, hailstones or garden equipment. Polycarbonate also withstands UV exposure without yellowing over the typical lifespan of the lantern.
