Description

The Champerico is a black steel pendant light built as an open wire cage: a wide, shallow canopy of fine curved wires that spreads out from a slatted inner shade around the bulb. It measures 98.5cm across and 150cm in overall height, so it is a pendant for a room with generous floor space and a ceiling high enough to let it hang clear of heads. It takes a single E27 bulb up to 60W, which is not included, and it carries an IP20 rating, which means it belongs indoors in a dry room.

In a living room it becomes the centrepiece, filling the space beneath the ceiling with its wide, airy outline. It also suits a dining room, where it can hang over the table, or an open-plan kitchen and dining area that needs one bold light to anchor the space, as long as the room is indoors and dry. Because the cage is so open, you see straight through it to the ceiling and walls, so a pendant this broad never feels heavy or crowds the room. The slatted inner shade frames the bulb at the heart of the canopy, giving the eye a neat focal point whenever the light is lit.

The body is steel with a black finish, and every wire of the canopy and the inner shade shares that colour, so the whole pendant reads as one clean black outline against a pale ceiling.
