Description

The Cellar is a 1480mm floor lamp built around a vertical matt black metal frame with four opal glass globes mounted at staggered heights. Each globe houses a G4 socket (bulbs sold separately), and the opal glass diffuses light in all directions, creating ambient rather than directional illumination. The frame measures 270mm deep by 210mm wide at its footprint, giving it a compact presence suitable for corners, beside seating, or flanking a console table.

Designed for living rooms, bedrooms and hallways where soft ambient light is needed without ceiling fittings, the Cellar works in contemporary and mid-century interiors where the contrast between matt black metalwork and warm-glowing opal glass provides visual interest. The lamp is dimmable when paired with dimmable G4 bulbs and a compatible dimmer on the circuit, allowing brightness to be adjusted from reading-level down to low background light in the evening.

The four globes are positioned asymmetrically along the vertical stem, preventing the lamp from reading as overly geometric or rigid. The lamp uses four G4 bulbs, sold separately. G4 is a bi-pin capsule fitting commonly available in LED and halogen versions. Most users pair this with 2W-3W warm-white LED G4 bulbs at 2700K-3000K for ambient light.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, when fitted with dimmable G4 bulbs and connected to a compatible dimmer switch on the circuit. The lamp itself supports dimming but the bulbs and dimmer must both be dimmer-compatible for this to function correctly.

What is the footprint size?

The circular base measures 270mm deep by 210mm wide, giving a compact footprint suitable for positioning beside furniture or in corners without taking up excessive floor space.

How is the lamp cleaned?

Wipe the matt black frame with a dry microfibre cloth. The opal glass globes can be removed by unscrewing the retaining rings and wiped with a barely-damp cloth, then dried immediately to prevent water marks. Avoid soaking the globes or using chemical cleaners on the glass.
