Description

The shade here is a wine glass shape in smoke tinted glass, held on a slim antique brass arm with black detailing behind it. At 18cm across it is a small fitting, better suited to a pool of light beside a chair than to lighting a whole room. A toggle switch sits on the fitting itself, so it can be worked by hand rather than from the door. It takes an E27 lamp of up to 20W, and it will dim if you pair a dimmable lamp with a compatible dimmer.

We would use these in pairs, one either side of a bed, where the tinted glass softens the view of the lamp at reading height. They also work along a hallway, in an alcove, or flanking a mirror in a dressing area, and the small size means the fitting does not crowd a narrow space. Anywhere the glass and the warm metal can be seen close up suits it, since much of the appeal is in the shade. It is meant for dry rooms indoors, so keep it away from bathrooms and open porches.

Glass and metal throughout: the smoke shade carries the look, and the antique brass has that slightly dulled, warmed tone that sits well with older houses and darker paint. Tinted glass shows fingerprints, so we wipe ours with a dry lint free cloth once the lamp has gone cold, and keep polishes and sprays off the brass. It carries a one year warranty. The same wine glass shade runs through the rest of the range as a flush fitting, in smoke and other glasses with a choice of metal finishes, so wall and ceiling lights can be matched up in one room.
