Description

A wine glass shape, the bowl turned down over the lamp and the stem lifting away from a slim wall plate in black chrome. The glass is finished in chrome, so unlit it reads as a small mirrored bowl, picking up whatever colour sits around it; lit, it sends light down and out along the wall. It spans 18cm, which keeps it close and tidy rather than commanding, and it takes an E27 lamp. There is a toggle switch on the fitting, so it can be worked on its own without touching the room switch.

We would fit these either side of a bed, where the switch on the fitting does the job of a bedside lamp and frees the table for a book. It suits a hallway too, or the run of wall beside a dining table, anywhere a shade would feel bulky. Dimming is possible with a compatible lamp and dimmer, which is worth doing in a bedroom. With a maximum of 20W it is happiest with an LED, and the glass shape flatters a decorative GLS, globe or tubular bulb.

The bowl is glass and the metalwork black chrome, with black on the plate and stem to keep the whole thing quiet. Dust the chrome with a dry microfibre cloth, and lift fingerprints from the glass with a barely damp one once the lamp has gone cold. It carries a one year warranty. Lamps are sold separately. The same wine glass shape runs through the range as a flush fitting, in finishes from antique brass and satin nickel to matt white, if you want the wall and the ceiling to agree.
