Description

A clear cloche of glass hangs from an antique brass suspension, with black picking out the flex and the ceiling cup. At 24cm across the shade it counts as a small pendant, wide enough to pool light neatly over one spot rather than wash a whole room. The glass is plain and untinted, which means the lamp is part of the look: a standard GLS, a fat globe, a squirrel cage or a slim tubular all read well through it in the E27 socket.

We hang these in a row along a kitchen island or a breakfast bar, where the clear glass keeps sightlines open across the worktop. Singly, one works over a bedside table, in a study corner, or in a small hallway where a shade of fabric would feel heavy. The drop adjusts up to 1.65m, so it copes with a tall stairwell as readily as a standard ceiling, and it will dim if you pair a dimmable lamp with a compatible dimmer.

Glass and metal throughout, the antique brass carrying a warm, slightly softened tone that sits well with older brassware and wooden worktops. It takes a lamp of up to 20W, which is ample for LED, and it carries a two year warranty. For cleaning, take the glass in a soft cloth with the power off and the lamp cold, wipe the inside if fingerprints have crept in, and leave polishes and sprays away from the brass. This one is for dry rooms indoors on a normal household supply.
