Description

Gilt bronze and black metalwork frames an opal diamond-cut glass shade, held close against the ceiling so nothing hangs into the room. The faceted glass breaks the light into soft planes rather than throwing it in one flat wash, and the opal finish keeps the lit lamp diffused. At 23cm across it reads as a small, tidy fitting, with enough shape in the glass to hold its own on a plain white ceiling.

This is one we reach for in hallways, landings, box rooms and anywhere a pendant would sit too low over a doorway or a stair. It takes one E27 lamp up to 20W, and we would choose a warm white LED in a GLS or globe shape so the bulb outline sits neatly behind the glass. Dimming is possible with a compatible lamp and a suitable dimmer fitted, which makes it a sensible choice for a bedroom ceiling where you want the level down in the evening. It is intended for dry rooms indoors, so keep it out of bathroom zones and away from steam.

The shade is glass and the frame metal, finished in gilt bronze with black detailing, a combination that works well against darker paint and warm timber floors. To clean, switch off at the wall and let everything cool, then lift dust from the facets with a dry brush or soft cloth; a barely damp cloth will shift marks from the glass, and nothing abrasive should touch the finish. It carries a one year warranty.
