Description

Ordered by the metre and supplied as a single continuous run, this is a slim white flex with two conductors laid alongside one another in the figure-of-eight profile that gives it its name. At 0.5mm each, those conductors are sized for the modest loads of low voltage LED work rather than heavy duty runs, and the white sheath sits quietly against pale ceilings, coving and painted shelf edges. We keep it on the shelf all year because it is the cable asked for most often when a strip run needs feeding.

It earns its place behind cabinet doors, along the underside of shelves and inside cove details, carrying power from a driver out to a length of LED strip or giving a small low voltage fitting a longer tail than it arrived with. The white version is the one we choose where the flex will be visible against light paintwork or white-faced furniture, since it reads as part of the surface rather than a line drawn across it. Because your order arrives as one unbroken run, a length can travel round a corner and back again without joins along the way.

The cores share a flexible outer sheath that is thin and pliable enough to follow a tight turn without fighting back, yet firm enough to hold a neat line where it is on show. Keep it clear of heat sources and sharp edges, take dust off with a dry cloth, and store any spare in a loose coil rather than a tight kink, which is what shortens the life of thin flex. The same figure-of-eight cable is also offered in black and in clear, so the flex can be matched to the surface it runs along instead of settling for whatever is to hand. Cut ends and connectors are chosen to suit the fitting, so order the length you need with a little to spare.

Frequently Asked

How is the cable supplied if I order several metres?

Each unit is 1m, and the total quantity you order is cut and sent as one continuous length rather than separate metre pieces.

What does 0.5mm refer to?

It is the cross-sectional area of each of the two conductors, equivalent to 20 AWG. That size suits the small currents typical of LED strip and other low voltage LED items.

What is figure-of-eight cable?

The two cores sit side by side in a shared sheath, so the profile looks like a figure 8 in cross section. It lies flatter than a round flex, which helps where the cable runs along a shelf edge or inside a cove.

Is it available in other colours?

Yes. We stock the same 0.5mm figure-of-eight cable in black and in clear, and there is a black and red version in the range if you want the cores marked by colour.

How should I look after it?

Keep it away from heat and sharp edges, wipe it with a dry cloth if it gathers dust, and coil any surplus loosely so the sheath is not creased or kinked.
