Description

This is a small wall light supplied without a shade, the E27 lampholder left open so you can choose your own. The finish is antique brass, warm and slightly darkened rather than bright, so it reads as an older piece against paint or paper. Proportions are modest, sitting close to the wall and taking up little visual room. It is not switched, so it runs from an existing wall switch or a dimmer, and lamps up to 20W suit it. The shade and the lamp are not included; see our lamp shades.

We reach for it in pairs either side of a bed, where a shade in linen or card softens the light for reading, and in hallways and small landings where a pendant would hang too low. It will dim with a compatible lamp and dimmer, which helps in bedrooms and snugs. Dry indoor rooms are its territory: living rooms, studies and hallways rather than bathrooms or anywhere it would meet damp air.

The antique brass covers the whole visible body, so the tone carries evenly across the fitting. Give it a soft dry cloth now and then and leave polishes and cream cleaners alone, since abrasives will cut through an aged finish. Let the lamp cool before you handle it or change a shade over it. It carries a one year warranty. We keep this one in antique brass and would pair it with a small pleated or coolie shade for a period room, fitting an LED lamp to suit whichever shade you settle on.
