Carisbrooke Wall Uplighter - Black

The Carisbrooke is a wall uplighter with an alabaster-style glass bowl held within a black metal frame featuring Gothic-inspired decorative elements. The frame includes cast floral rosettes and draped curves along the upper rim, while the glass bowl diffuses light upwards to cast ambient illumination onto the wall and ceiling. The fitting takes a single E27 bulb up to 60W, sold separately.

Designed for hallways, landings, living rooms and bedrooms where upward ambient light softens the space without direct glare, the Carisbrooke projects 130mm from the wall and measures 265mm wide. The shallow bowl and upward-facing design suit rooms with standard 2.4m ceiling heights, where wall-mounted uplighters provide secondary or accent lighting alongside pendant or ceiling fittings. The black metalwork pairs with both period interiors and contemporary schemes that incorporate traditional accent pieces.

Handcrafted by Elstead Lighting, the Carisbrooke combines cast metal detailing with pressed glass. The black finish has a slight texture that reduces fingerprint visibility compared to polished finishes, and the metal frame sits proud of the glass edge to protect the bowl from impact during cleaning. The alabaster-style glass is opal white with a matte interior surface that scatters light evenly across the ceiling zone without hotspots. Compatible with LED, halogen or filament E27 bulbs, allowing control over colour temperature and energy consumption.

What bulb does the Carisbrooke take?

The fitting takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this uplighter with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for soft ambient light.

Is the glass shade removable for cleaning?

Yes. The alabaster-style glass bowl lifts out from the metal frame for cleaning. Wipe the glass with a damp microfibre cloth and dry thoroughly before refitting. The metal frame can be dusted or wiped down with a barely-damp cloth.
