Description

The Cara is a single-light wall fitting with a spherical crystal shade constructed from faceted octagonal crystals held in an antique brass frame, mounted on a curved antique brass arm from a circular backplate. A rocker switch is integrated into the backplate, allowing the light to be controlled without reaching for a wall switch. The G9 bulb sits inside the crystal sphere, visible through the facets, and bulbs are sold separately.

Designed for bedside positions, hallway accent lighting and low-ceiling living spaces where a table lamp would occupy surface space, the Cara projects 200mm from the wall and sits 160mm high from the centre of the backplate. The integrated switch makes it practical for bedside use where reaching a wall switch would require leaving bed, or for accent lighting in hallways and alcoves where adding a separate switched spur would be inconvenient. The 100mm backplate covers a standard UK single-gang back box.

The antique brass finish shows a warm gold tone with darker lowlights that give the metal an aged patina, pairing well with traditional, classical and period interiors. The crystal sphere contains a decorative faceted crystal drop hanging below the bulb, which catches and refracts light when the fitting is on. The crystals are hand-assembled onto the brass framework, so slight variation in positioning between individual fittings is normal. At 0.6kg the Cara fixes to plasterboard or masonry walls using standard fixings.

What bulb does it take?

The Cara takes a single G9 capsule bulb up to 33W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 3-5W LED G9 bulb in warm white (2700K-3000K) for bedside or accent lighting.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, provided you use a dimmable G9 bulb and have a compatible dimmer switch controlling the circuit. The integrated rocker switch on the backplate is an on/off switch only, not a dimmer.

How is the switch operated?

A small rocker switch is built into the circular backplate. Press the top of the rocker to turn the light on, press the bottom to turn it off. This means you can control the light without reaching for a wall switch, making it practical for bedside use.

What height should it be mounted at?

For bedside use, mount the fitting so the centre of the backplate sits 900-1100mm above the floor, which places the light source at a comfortable reading height when seated or lying in bed. For hallway or accent lighting, typical mounting height is 1600-1800mm above floor level.
