Description

This is a compact G9 capsule with a frosted finish, drawing 2W and giving out 200 lumens of cool white light at 4000K. The frosting takes the hard edge off the light source, so you see a soft glow rather than a bright point, which matters in fittings where the lamp sits in plain view. Light spreads all round the capsule rather than in one direction. It is non-dimmable, so it wants a plain on/off switch.

We fit capsules like this in the small G9 fittings that turn up all over the house: wall lights either side of a bed, pendants over a dining table, picture lights and mirror lights, and the shallow ceiling fittings used in hallways and landings. The cool white tone reads crisp against warmer lamps, which suits kitchens, utility rooms, home offices and workshops where you want light that feels awake rather than cosy. It is one we would keep a spare of in a drawer, since G9 fittings often use several at once and keeping the tone matched across them keeps a fitting looking right. Dry indoor rooms are its place.

The capsule measures 15mm across, so it slips into the narrow glass shades and slim tubes that G9 fittings tend to use, and the frosted white finish is even all the way round.
