Capitol Hill 12 Light Chandelier - Black

The Capitol Hill is a 12 light chandelier built around a circular matt black metal frame with twelve curved arms extending outward from a central column. Each arm supports a vertical E14 candle bulb holder set against a black metal sleeve, creating a tiered arrangement of light sources within an open cage structure. The chandelier measures 882mm in diameter and 779mm in height from the canopy fixing to the base of the frame.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and double-height living spaces, the Capitol Hill works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above. The chain-suspended fitting allows the drop to be adjusted between 878mm minimum and 2054mm maximum during installation, with a 1219mm chain provided. The open frame structure allows light from the twelve bulbs to spread upward, downward and horizontally, providing balanced ambient illumination across a 4-6m space.

The matt black finish on the metal frame absorbs rather than reflects light, keeping visual focus on the bulbs themselves while the curved cage geometry adds architectural presence without blocking sightlines across the room. The frame weighs approximately 6kg when empty and requires a ceiling fixing capable of supporting 8-10kg once bulbs are fitted. The E14 sockets accept standard small Edison screw candle bulbs, giving flexibility to choose LED, halogen or decorative filament bulbs up to 40W each depending on the desired light output and aesthetic.

What bulbs does the Capitol Hill take?

The chandelier takes twelve E14 small Edison screw candle bulbs, sold separately. Maximum wattage per bulb is 40W. Most installations pair this with 4-6W LED candle bulbs in warm white (2700K-3000K) for a combined output of around 5,000-7,000 lumens.

What ceiling height is needed?

The minimum drop of 878mm plus the 779mm fitting height means the chandelier requires at least 2.7m ceiling height to avoid head clearance issues. For dining room installation over a table, a 3m or higher ceiling allows the fitting to sit 750-850mm above the table surface without dominating the space.

Is the drop adjustable?

Yes. The 1219mm chain can be shortened during installation to set the drop anywhere between 878mm and 2054mm. Excess chain is typically coiled inside the ceiling canopy once the desired height is set.

What fixing is required in the ceiling?

The chandelier requires a ceiling fixing point capable of supporting 8-10kg. Most UK ceilings use a standard loop-in ceiling rose or joist-mounted fixing plate. If the existing ceiling rose is lightweight plastic, upgrade to a metal rose or fixing block screwed into a ceiling joist before hanging the chandelier.
