Description

The Cambridge is a 15-light chandelier in solid burnished brass with a two-tier candelabra arrangement: five lights on the upper tier and ten on the lower. Each light sits within a clear glass candle sleeve on a brass arm that curves from a central turned baluster column. The burnished finish gives the brass a warm, aged patina that softens the metallic sheen and suits traditional and classical interiors.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and double-height living spaces with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above, the 940mm diameter and 876mm body height give the chandelier substantial presence without overwhelming rooms up to 6m x 6m. The adjustable drop ranges from 1040mm minimum to 4040mm maximum on installation, allowing the chandelier to sit 700-900mm above a dining table or be raised higher in taller spaces. The 3048mm chain length accommodates ceiling heights up to 4.9m before the body reaches the table or floor clearance line.

Each of the fifteen arms is cast in solid brass with beaded ball fonts at the base of the candle sleeves and decorative turnings on the central column. The arms are assembled in scrolling pairs around the baluster, creating a symmetrical pattern when viewed from any angle. The clear glass sleeves expose the E14 bulbs (sold separately), which means the bulb choice affects the overall appearance — candle-flame LED bulbs suit the period styling, while plain candle bulbs give a cleaner modern-classical look. The solid brass construction gives the fitting a weight of approximately 12-14kg, requiring a ceiling joist fixing or reinforced plasterboard anchor rather than a standard ceiling rose alone.

The chandelier takes fifteen E14 (small Edison screw) candle bulbs up to 40W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users choose warm-white LED candle or candle-flame bulbs in the 4-6W range at 2700K-3000K to match the warm brass finish.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 1040mm minimum drop suits ceiling heights of 2.7m or above when hanging the chandelier 700-900mm above a dining table. For entrance halls or double-height spaces, the 4040mm maximum drop accommodates ceilings up to 4.9m before the chandelier body reaches typical floor clearance height of 2.1m.

How is the height adjusted?

The chandelier hangs on a chain that can be shortened during installation by removing links. Once fitted, the height is fixed unless the electrician returns to adjust it. The 3048mm chain allows for significant height variation to suit different ceiling-to-table or ceiling-to-floor distances.

What fixing is required?

The solid brass construction makes this a heavy fitting, requiring a joist fixing or reinforced plasterboard anchor rated for at least 15-20kg. A standard ceiling rose alone will not support the weight safely. Professional installation is recommended.
