Description

The Cambridge is a single-arm wall light cast in solid brass with a burnished finish, featuring beaded ball detailing on the backplate rim and candle cup. A curved arm extends from an oval backplate, supporting a clear optic glass shade in a candle-flame shape above a ribbed drip pan. The fitting takes a single E14 bulb up to 40W (sold separately).

Designed for hallways, bedroom bedside positions, and living room accent lighting, the Cambridge provides direct upward light through the clear glass while the beaded and ribbed brass components add decorative interest at eye level. The 241mm projection from the wall positions the light source approximately 200mm out from the backplate, which works well either side of a mirror, above a console table, or flanking a doorway. The burnished brass finish carries a warm honey tone that darkens slightly in recessed details.

The solid brass construction gives the fitting a weight of approximately 0.8kg, and the cast components (backplate, arm, drip pan) are machined rather than stamped, producing crisp edges on the vertical ribbing and bead detailing. The clear optic glass shade has vertical ridges moulded into the inner surface that refract light from the bulb, creating a textured glow rather than a single hard point of light. The burnished finish is not lacquered, so the brass will develop a natural patina over time unless polished.

What bulb does it take?

The Cambridge takes a single E14 (Small Edison Screw) bulb up to 40W. Most users pair this with a 4-6W LED candle bulb in 2700K warm white to match the brass tone. Bulbs are sold separately.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

The Cambridge carries no IP rating and is designed for dry interior locations only. It is not suitable for bathrooms, particularly not within zones 1 or 2 near baths or showers.

Will the brass finish tarnish?

The burnished brass is not lacquered, so it will develop a natural patina over time as the surface oxidises. This can be polished back to the original honey tone using a brass cleaner, or left to age naturally for a darker, antique appearance.

What's the projection from the wall?

The fitting projects 241mm from the wall when installed. This positions the light source approximately 200mm out from the backplate, making it suitable for use either side of a mirror or above a narrow console table without obstructing head clearance.
