Description

Eight integrated LED heads sit along a slim rectangular frame, spaced so the light lands as a broad even wash rather than one bright pool. The tone is a warm white, near enough the colour of an old filament lamp, and the driver is built into the fitting. The suspension is adjustable, so the frame can hang low and close over a table or be taken up nearer the ceiling where headroom is tight.

We reach for this one over a rectangular dining table or a kitchen island, where the long frame echoes the shape of the surface below and puts light along the whole of it rather than the middle only. It works in a hallway above a run of console furniture too. There is no dimming, so if you like a lower setting in the evening it pays to keep a lamp or two nearby on a separate switch. It belongs in dry rooms indoors, away from shower spray and open weather, on an ordinary household supply.

The frame is finished in a fine matt sand texture that holds its colour without shine, and we stock it in sand white and sand black as well as gold and rust brown. Dust gathers on the upper edges more than anywhere else, so run a dry cloth or a soft brush along the top of the frame now and then, leaving polish and solvent well alone. It carries a three year warranty. The same family gives you a round pendant with the heads set in a circle, a longer rectangle for bigger tables, slim single tube pendants for the ends of a bar or beside a bed, and a wall light with heads throwing up and down, which is a neat way to carry one look from the dining room out into the hall.
