The Byron is a 457mm outdoor wall lantern with a hexagonal imperial bronze frame, clear bevelled glass panels and a hammered copper disc reflector positioned behind the E27 bulb holder. The lantern mounts on a bracket that extends 216mm from the wall, placing the glass enclosure away from the building face to cast light in multiple directions.

Designed for exterior porches, covered patios and entrance doorways, the Byron pairs an IP44 weather rating with traditional lantern styling. The clear bevelled glass protects the bulb from rain and wind while the bevelled edges refract light into the surrounding space. The copper reflector behind the bulb bounces light forward through the glass and downward onto the area immediately below the fitting, increasing effective illumination compared to a bare bulb in the same enclosure.

The imperial bronze finish is a dark brown metal tone with subtle copper undertones that age naturally in outdoor conditions, developing a weathered patina over time. The hammered texture on the copper reflector adds visual depth when the lantern is lit, diffusing hotspots and creating a warmer glow. The lantern accepts any standard E27 LED, halogen or filament bulb up to 60W (sold separately), allowing control over colour temperature and brightness to suit the application.

What does the IP44 rating mean?

IP44 means the lantern is protected against splashing water from any direction and solid objects larger than 1mm. It is suitable for covered outdoor locations such as porches, soffits and eaves where the fitting is not exposed to direct rainfall or submersion.

What bulb is recommended?

The lantern takes a standard E27 bulb up to 60W. For outdoor use, a 6-10W warm-white LED bulb (2700K-3000K) provides sufficient light for entrance areas while keeping running costs low. Vintage-style LED filament bulbs pair well with the traditional lantern design.

Will the bronze finish corrode outdoors?
