Description

The Brooklyn is a modern geometric rug laid out in a patchwork of squares and oblongs, in shades of blue, soft grey, mid grey and deep anthracite. The blocks sit side by side with no fixed repeat. The blues run from a bright teal to a darker denim tone. It is machine made in polypropylene with a smooth pile. The pile is then cut by hand along the outline of each block, so the squares sit in gentle relief and the pattern reads clearly from across the room.

The Blue / Grey colourway suits a modern living room, where the cool blues sit happily beside grey sofas, pale walls and wooden floors. It comes in three sizes. The 120 by 170cm rug fits in front of a sofa or between two chairs. The 160 by 220cm rug is large enough to sit under the front legs of a sofa and anchor a seating area. The 60 by 230cm runner carries the same block pattern down a hallway, linking the hall to the living room beyond.

The rug is stain resistant, which matters in a living room that sees cups of tea, muddy paws and everyday footfall, because an ordinary spill is easier to deal with. The smooth pile is even underfoot and keeps the edges of the blocks crisp. Before you choose a size, measure the space and allow a border of bare floor around the rug, which keeps the room feeling balanced.
