Description
The Brindleigh wall light is a compact half-shade in multicoloured Tiffany-style leaded glass on a metal backplate. It measures 315mm wide and 175mm high, and projects 150mm from the wall, so it lights a wall without crowding a narrow space. One 40W E14 golf bulb sits behind the glass and is supplied separately. The glass is cut into small panels and leaded together, which is why the light through it reads as colour rather than a flat wash. Class 2 construction means it is double insulated, and the whole fitting weighs 1kg.
Wall lights, or wall sconces, do the quiet work in a room. Mount a pair either side of a fireplace or a bed, or run several along a hallway to break up a long stretch of wall. Because the Brindleigh projects only 150mm, it suits landings, stairwells and corridors where a wider fitting would catch shoulders. Typical mounting height is around 1.5 metres to 1.6 metres from the floor for general lighting, a little lower beside a bed. The 40W output gives soft background light rather than reading light.
The backplate and frame are metal, the shade is leaded glass, and the two are fixed so the glass carries no strain. Wipe the glass with a dry soft cloth, and use a barely damp cloth followed by a dry one if fingerprints build up. Skip solvents, polishes and abrasive pads. Rated IP20, this wall light belongs in dry indoor rooms, not bathrooms. It dims with a compatible dimmer and a dimmable bulb. Brindleigh flush ceiling lights and a large pendant use the same glass across a whole hall.

Frequently Asked
What is the glass?
Multicoloured leaded glass in the Tiffany style, cut into small panels and joined with lead, held in a metal frame and backplate.
How far does it stick out from the wall?
The projection is 150mm, with a width of 315mm and a height of 175mm, which keeps it workable in narrow halls and on stairs.
What height should I mount it at?
Around 1.5 metres to 1.6 metres from the floor suits general lighting. Beside a bed, drop it lower so the light falls where you read.
Which bulb does it take?
One 40W E14 golf bulb, not included. A dimmable bulb with a compatible dimmer will let you take the level down.
How do I keep it clean?
A dry soft cloth for dust and fingerprints. For anything more, a barely damp cloth then a dry one, so the lead lines are not left wet.
Is it suitable for a bathroom?
No. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms, so use it in halls, landings, bedrooms and living rooms.
