Description

The Brindleigh medium globe pendant is the larger of our two round shades in this pattern, 400mm across, built from multicoloured glass cut and leaded into a soldered metal frame. It hangs on an adjustable drop of 650mm to 1500mm and takes one 60W E27 GLS bulb, supplied separately. The globe shape spreads colour outwards as well as down, so the fitting stays interesting from across the room. It is dimmable when used with a dimmable bulb and a compatible dimmer.

400mm is enough to carry a room on its own, which makes the Brindleigh a good single pendant over a round dining table, in a snug, in a wide hallway, or centred in a bedroom. It reads as traditional without feeling fussy, so it works in period houses and in plainer rooms that need a point of colour. Ceilings of standard height suit it best, as the shade wants a little air around it. It is rated IP20 and intended for dry indoor rooms.

Each glass piece is leaded and soldered individually, so the balance of colours and the run of the seams shift slightly from shade to shade. The fitting weighs 3.8kg, so fix it to a joist or a rated ceiling anchor, and it is Class 1, needing an earth at the rose and a qualified electrician to connect. Dust the glass with a dry cloth, wipe with a barely damp cloth when needed, and keep polishes off the solder. A small globe pendant, a table lamp and a floor lamp complete the Brindleigh range.
