Description

The Brindleigh pendant carries a 500mm shade of Tiffany-style leaded glass, hung open side down so the light falls where you want it and the colour is read from beneath. Height adjusts from 410mm right down to 1400mm, giving this ceiling light an unusually wide range of positions. Three E27 lampholders are set inside the shade, each taking an LED bulb of up to 10W, and the fitting weighs 3.1kg. Bulbs are not included, which leaves the colour temperature of the room in your hands.

Half a metre across, this is a pendant light with enough width to anchor a dining table or a kitchen island, and enough drop adjustment to work in a hallway or over a stairwell. Downward light is the practical choice where people eat, read or prepare food, since it puts brightness on the surface rather than the ceiling. The multicoloured glass suits Victorian, Edwardian and cottage interiors and gives a plainer modern kitchen a warm centre. It is rated IP20 and intended for dry indoor rooms.

Small pieces of coloured glass are set into soldered metal seams on a metal frame, so the panels look quite different by day and by lamplight. Dust with a dry soft cloth, lift marks with a barely damp cloth and dry immediately, and keep sprays and abrasive creams away from the seams and metalwork. The fitting is Class 1 and needs an earthed supply, and it dims with a compatible dimmer switch and dimmable bulbs.
