Description

This is a small, low lamp in black with wood, made to sit quietly rather than loom over a surface. It takes an E27 lamp and works with a good spread of shapes, from standard GLS pear lamps to fat globes, tubulars and ST64 filament styles, so the lamp you choose sets much of the character. An inline switch on the flex does the switching, which keeps everything within reach, and the maximum is 40W.

We would put it on a bedside table, a shelf of books, a hall console or the corner of a desk, wherever you want a pool of light rather than a whole room lit end to end. It suits small flats, rented rooms and spaces that already have plenty going on, because it asks for very little surface. Fit a dimmable lamp and use it with a dimmer and you can bring the level down for late evenings; with a warm filament lamp it settles into a soft bedside glow. Keep it to dry rooms indoors, so not a bathroom shelf or a covered porch.

Wood and black sit together here without fuss, and the whole thing is light enough to pick up and move with one hand when you rearrange a table. It is double insulated. For cleaning, a dry cloth over the wood is plenty; avoid sprays and damp cloths, and give a used lamp time to cool before you unscrew it. It carries a one year warranty. We like it best with a clear glass globe, where the wood reads warm against the filament, though a small opal GLS gives a gentler, more even light if the lamp sits at eye level beside a bed. This is one we reach for when a shaded lamp would feel too heavy for the space available. Lamps are not included, so choose the shape to suit the room.
