Bracken Bamboo Flush Ceiling Light - Natural

The Bracken is a flush ceiling light with a single lamp housed inside a shade woven from natural bamboo, left in its raw, pale finish rather than stained or painted. It measures 40.5cm across and projects 23cm from the ceiling, giving it a generous, rounded profile that still sits close overhead. It takes one E27 lamp rated up to 10W, and the bamboo construction gives the shade a light, textured quality that glass or metal cannot match.

Flush fittings like this are made for rooms where ceiling height is tight, box rooms, landings, low ceilinged bedrooms and cottage style rooms where a pendant would hang too low. With one lamp glowing through the woven bamboo, the light is soft and diffused rather than sharp, well suited to a bedroom, snug or hallway where you want a gentle, ambient glow rather than bright, even lighting. The natural finish also brings a relaxed, textured note to a room furnished in wood, linen or other natural materials.

We leave the bamboo in its natural state, so the colour and grain vary a little piece to piece, and it will settle gently with age rather than fade badly. Dust it occasionally with a soft, dry cloth and keep it away from damp or steam. The single E27 lamp is not included, and a warm white LED lamp will suit the natural, relaxed character of the shade well. How do I clean and care for the bamboo shade?

Dust it every so often with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid water, damp cloths or household cleaners, as moisture can mark or warp natural bamboo, and keep it away from steamy rooms such as bathrooms.

What size room does the Bracken suit?

At 40.5cm across, it works well in bedrooms, hallways, landings or smaller living spaces where a flush fitting is needed. It projects only 23cm from the ceiling, so it is a good option for rooms with lower ceiling heights where a pendant would hang too low.

What bulb does it take, and is it included?

Is the Bracken suitable for a bathroom?

No, we would not recommend it for a bathroom. It is rated IP20 for general dry rooms, and the natural bamboo shade is best kept away from steam and damp altogether, so it suits a bedroom, hallway or living space much better.
