Bologna Outdoor Down Wall Light - Black IP54

The Bologna is a black outdoor wall light with a frosted spherical globe suspended beneath a decorative metal arch and canopy. The fitting houses a single E27 bulb (sold separately) inside the globe, directing light downwards and outwards through the frosted diffuser. The IP54 rating protects the lampholder and internal components against dust ingress and water spray from any direction, making the Bologna suitable for covered porches, balconies, and sheltered exterior walls.

Designed for residential front doors, garage side entrances, garden room walls and courtyard areas where downward task lighting is needed, the Bologna provides focused illumination for steps, door handles and pathways without spilling light upwards into neighbouring windows. The 400mm height and 250mm width suit brick or rendered walls with sufficient clearance above and below the mounting position. The 345mm projection positions the globe away from the wall, allowing the light to spread downwards without hitting the wall surface directly.

The black powder-coated finish on the metal arch, canopy and decorative detailing provides a low-maintenance surface that resists corrosion in coastal and damp environments. The frosted globe softens the light output from a bare filament or LED bulb, reducing glare when viewed from below. The fitting accepts any E27 bulb up to 60W, including dimmable LED options where paired with an appropriate outdoor-rated dimmer switch. Norlys covers the Bologna with a 5-year guarantee.

What does IP54 mean for outdoor use?

IP54 means the fitting is protected against dust ingress and water spray from any direction. This makes the Bologna suitable for covered outdoor locations such as porches, balconies and sheltered walls, but not for fully exposed positions without overhead cover or areas subject to direct rain pressure.

What bulb does it take?

The Bologna takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 6-10W and 2700K for a traditional outdoor glow.

Can it be used with a dimmer?

Yes, if paired with a dimmable E27 bulb and an outdoor-rated dimmer switch. The fitting itself does not restrict dimmer compatibility — dimming depends on the bulb and dimmer combination you choose.

How far does it project from the wall?

The fitting projects 345mm from the wall surface to the front of the globe. This positions the light away from the wall, allowing downward illumination without the light hitting the wall directly beneath the mounting point.
