Description

The Bold is an outdoor wall light built around a 200mm opal glass sphere mounted on a matt black aluminium bracket. The cylindrical wall mount extends 160mm from the wall, positioning the sphere forward to cast light outwards across facade surfaces and downwards onto pathways. An E27 bulb up to 60W sits inside the sphere (sold separately), with the opal glass diffusing the light in all directions.

Rated IP54, the Bold suits exterior installation on house walls, porch entries, garage facades and garden boundaries where water splash and dust ingress are expected but not direct water jets. The aluminium construction resists corrosion in coastal and damp climates, and the black powder-coated finish maintains its appearance under UV exposure. The fitting works as single units flanking doorways or in multiples along a wall run to light pathways and driveways.

The 280mm overall height and 200mm sphere diameter give the Bold a substantial presence on rendered, brick and timber facades without overwhelming domestic-scale architecture. The matt black finish pairs with anthracite window frames, black guttering and contemporary cladding materials. The opal sphere softens the industrial character of the metal bracket, creating a balance between functional outdoor lighting and decorative accent.

IP54 means the fitting is protected against dust ingress and water spray from any direction. This makes it suitable for walls under eaves, porch areas, and facades where rain hits at angles but not direct jets. It is not submersible and should not be installed where standing water collects.

What bulb does it take?

The Bold takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for exterior ambient lighting.

Can it be installed on any wall material?

Yes, the fitting can be mounted on rendered, brick, timber, stone and cladding walls using appropriate fixings for the substrate. The circular backplate is 100mm diameter and requires two fixing points. Ensure the wall surface is sound and the cable entry point is sealed to maintain weather protection.

Does the glass sphere need cleaning?

Over time, the opal glass may accumulate dust, pollen and water marks. Wipe the sphere with a damp microfibre cloth and mild soapy water when the fitting is switched off and cool. Avoid abrasive cleaners that can scratch the glass surface.
