Description
The Bold is an 80cm bollard light built from grey powder-coated aluminium with a 20cm opal acrylic sphere at the top. The column houses a single E27 bulb fitting (bulb sold separately, max 60W) that casts omnidirectional light through the sphere, diffusing it 360 degrees around the bollard for pathway illumination and landscape accent lighting.
Designed for gardens, driveways, patios and pathway edges, the bollard carries an IP54 rating, protecting the internal components from dust ingress and water splashes from any direction. The 80cm height positions light at shin-to-knee level, preventing glare for pedestrians while illuminating the ground plane effectively. The bollard mounts directly to a hardstanding surface via a base plate (fixing hardware not included) and requires mains 100-240V AC wiring buried underground or run through a conduit.
The grey aluminium finish resists corrosion in wet outdoor environments and pairs with both contemporary monochrome palettes and warmer stone or timber landscaping. The opal sphere provides visual interest when unlit during daylight and prevents the bulb being visible at night, softening the light output into a glow rather than a point source. The wide voltage tolerance (100-240V AC) means the fitting works across international installations without requiring a transformer.
The E27 base accepts standard Edison screw bulbs, giving flexibility to choose LED, halogen or traditional filament light sources depending on the desired colour temperature and energy consumption. Most installations use a 6-10W LED bulb at 2700K-3000K for warm ambient pathway lighting, though higher-output bulbs up to the 60W maximum can be used where brighter task lighting is needed for driveways or commercial pathways.

Frequently Asked
Is this suitable for coastal or exposed locations?
The IP54 rating protects against dust and water splashes, making the bollard suitable for most UK gardens and driveways. In coastal locations with salt spray or very exposed positions with driving rain, consider applying a protective wax coating to the aluminium annually to extend the finish life.
What bulb should I use?
The E27 fitting accepts any standard Edison screw bulb up to 60W. Most users choose a 6-10W warm-white LED (2700K-3000K) for energy-efficient pathway lighting. The opal sphere diffuses the light effectively, so higher-output bulbs are only needed where brighter illumination is required.
How is it installed?
The bollard mounts to a concrete pad, paving slab or other hardstanding surface via a base plate. Mains wiring must be run underground in armoured cable or conduit to the bollard location. Professional installation by a qualified electrician is recommended for outdoor mains wiring.
Can it be used on a timer or motion sensor?
Yes. The bollard can be wired to a timer, photocell or PIR motion sensor as part of the mains circuit. Ensure any control equipment is also rated for outdoor use and compatible with the bulb type you choose (some LED bulbs do not work well with older dimmer circuits).
