Description

The Bold is an 80cm outdoor bollard light with a cylindrical black aluminium column supporting a 20cm opal glass globe at the head. The E27 lamp fitting inside the globe (bulb sold separately) casts light through the diffuser in all directions, providing path-level illumination while the opal glass softens glare. The IP54 rating protects against dust ingress and water splashes from any direction, making the fitting suitable for exposed garden paths, driveways and terrace perimeters.

Designed for pathway marking and low-level ambient lighting rather than security lighting, the Bold suits residential gardens, commercial courtyards and hospitality terraces where consistent spacing of 3-5m between bollards provides adequate coverage. The 80cm height places the light source at mid-shin level, reducing glare for pedestrians while keeping the globe visible as a marker. The aluminium construction handles UK weather exposure without rusting, and the powder-coated black finish maintains colour stability under UV.

The cylindrical column measures 80mm in diameter and sits on a ground-mount base that requires a wired connection beneath the installation point — this is not a plug-in solar fitting. The E27 socket accepts standard Edison screw bulbs up to 60W, allowing flexibility to choose LED, halogen or filament sources. Most users pair this with a 6-10W warm-white LED to balance running cost with adequate path visibility. The opal globe is replaceable if damaged.

The Bold takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most installations use a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for path lighting.

Is it suitable for coastal or exposed locations?

The IP54 rating protects against dust and water splashes, and the aluminium construction resists rust. However, in coastal environments with salt spray, annual cleaning and inspection of the finish is recommended to maintain appearance.

How is it installed?

The bollard requires a mains electrical connection beneath the installation point. This is not a solar or plug-in fitting. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician, with the cable run buried and protected according to outdoor wiring regulations.

What spacing is recommended between bollards?

For continuous path lighting, spacing the Bold at 3-5m intervals provides adequate coverage. Closer spacing increases light levels; wider spacing creates more of a marker effect with darker zones between each bollard.
