Description

This is a compact reading light for the wall: a small round spot head on a round base, both finished in matt white with no shine to catch the eye. The LED is built in and draws 3W, giving a warm white at 3000K that suits evening reading rather than bright task light. The beam is a narrow one, so it lays light on a page or a picture and leaves the rest of the wall quiet. A rocker switch sits on the fitting itself, so it can be turned on and off from where you are sitting. It is not dimmable.

We put these in pairs either side of a bed, at about headboard height, where a table lamp would only crowd a small bedside surface. They suit a reading chair, a narrow study wall, a guest room or a landing where a pointed pool of light is friendlier than something overhead. The switch on the body helps in any spot where the room switch is out of reach once you have settled. Keep it to dry rooms indoors; a bathroom zone or a covered porch asks for a different fitting altogether.

The driver is housed within the fitting, which is double insulated and so needs no earth. The matt white paint asks very little of you: switch off at the rocker, let it cool, then take dust off with a dry cloth and lift any marks with a barely damp one, keeping sprays and solvents well away from the paint. It carries a three year warranty. We also stock the same head shape in matt black, a square headed spot if you want a crisper outline, and a ring head version for a softer halo of light.
