Description

The Blocks modern rug is a rectangular rug in dark grey and grey, built around a pattern of interlocking blocks. Each block is filled with bold parallel stripes in a deep anthracite tone, set against a lighter grey ground, and the stripes turn from vertical to horizontal from one block to the next. Here and there a plain grey square breaks up the stripes, which gives the whole design a relaxed, patchwork rhythm rather than a strict grid. It is a quiet, graphic look that sits comfortably with modern furniture and pale or mid-toned floors.

This is a rug for the main living spaces of a home. The 80 by 150cm size works beside a bed, in front of a fireplace or in a study or reading corner. The 120 by 170cm rug suits a modest living room, laid in front of a sofa or under a coffee table, while the 160 by 230cm size is large enough to sit under the front legs of a sofa and chairs, or under the lower half of a bed.

Because the design mixes two greys, it pairs easily with white, cream, natural wood and black, and leaves room for stronger colour in cushions and throws. The dark grey stripes give definition in a light room, and the paler ground keeps it from feeling heavy in a smaller one. We suggest measuring the floor before you choose a size, then marking the outline with masking tape so you can see how the rug will sit with your furniture.
