Description
Blocks is a modern rug made up of a patchwork of short black stripes on an ivory ground. Each block runs its lines in its own direction, some upright, some across, some broad and some fine. The panels butt up against one another, with small squares of plain ivory between them. The stripes have a slightly ragged, sketched edge, which keeps the strong contrast of the Black / White colourway feeling relaxed rather than stark.
We see Blocks most at home in a living room, where its black and ivory sit easily with pale floors and plain walls. It is sold in three sizes. The 80 by 150cm rug works beside a bed, in front of an armchair or in a reading corner. The 120 by 170cm size suits a smaller living room in front of a sofa. The 160 by 230cm rug is large enough to sit under the front legs of a sofa and chairs, or at the foot of a double bed.
With only black and ivory in the design, it is an easy rug to build a room around. Pick up the black in a frame, a lamp or a cushion, or let it be the one pattern in an otherwise plain space. Before you choose a size, measure the room and mark the outline on the floor with masking tape, leaving a border of bare floor around the edges. With a sofa, pick the size that lets at least its front feet rest on the rug.

Frequently Asked
What sizes does the Blocks rug come in?
We sell it in three rectangular sizes: 80 by 150cm, 120 by 170cm and 160 by 230cm. That covers everything from a bedside up to a full living room.
What colours are in this rug?
The Black / White colourway pairs deep black stripes with an ivory ground. The lighter colour reads as a soft off-white rather than a bright, cold white.
Which size should I choose for under a sofa?
For most sofas the 160 by 230cm size is the one to choose, as it lets the front legs of the sofa and nearby chairs rest on the rug. The 120 by 170cm size suits a smaller sofa or a compact room.
What does the Blocks pattern look like?
It is a patchwork of rectangular blocks, each filled with black stripes running upright or across. Small squares of plain ivory show between the panels.
What style of room does this rug suit?
It is a modern rug, so it sits well with plain walls, pale floors and simple furniture. Its two colours make it easy to match with black or white accents around the room.
