Bismarck 1 Light Mini Pendant - Black With Gold Socket

The Bismarck is a 254mm hexagonal pendant light built from a matt black metal frame with a painted gold E27 socket at the centre. The six-sided geometric frame measures 254mm across and 60mm deep, creating an open structure that allows the bulb to be visible from all angles. The pendant hangs from a black fabric cord with an adjustable drop between 350mm and 1264mm, set to the required length during installation.

Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and hallway clusters, the Bismarck works as a single pendant over a small table or in groups of two or three along a 2-3m island. The 254mm frame size suits ceiling heights from 2.4m upwards, with the pendant typically hung 700-900mm above a worktop or 650-750mm above a dining table depending on ceiling height and room proportion. The open frame design means the bulb choice has direct impact on the room — a visible filament bulb at 2200K gives warm industrial character, while a standard LED at 2700-3000K provides cleaner ambient light.

The matt black finish on the frame has a low-sheen texture that minimises reflections and pairs comfortably with industrial, modern and mid-century interiors. The gold-painted socket inside the hexagon provides contrast without needing polished brass elsewhere in the room, and the socket itself accepts any standard E27 bulb up to 60W. Quoizel manufactures the frame from formed steel rather than cast metal, keeping the 60mm depth of the hexagon consistent around all six sides.

What bulb does it take?

The Bismarck takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a visible filament bulb at 2200K-2700K to suit the industrial aesthetic, or a standard LED at 2700-3000K for cleaner ambient light.

Can the drop be adjusted?

Yes. The fabric cord allows adjustment between 350mm and 1264mm during installation. Once the pendant is wired and the canopy fitted to the ceiling, the drop is fixed at that length.

How many pendants are needed over a kitchen island?

For a 2-2.5m island, two Bismarck pendants spaced 600-800mm apart works well. For islands over 2.5m, three pendants give more even coverage. The 254mm frame size means they can be hung closer together than larger pendants without visual crowding.

Does the gold socket tarnish?

The socket is painted gold rather than plated, so it will not tarnish in the way that unlacquered brass does. The paint finish is durable under normal residential use.
