The fitting takes a single E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately) and carries an IP54 rating for protection against dust ingress and water splashes from any direction.

Designed for external installation on front doors, porch areas, side entrances, garage walls and courtyard perimeters, the Bern provides both functional task light and architectural accent lighting. The clear glass allows light to project forward onto pathways and downwards onto doorsteps without diffusion, giving bright, defined coverage across a 2-3m radius depending on bulb choice. The 120mm projection from the wall keeps the fitting clear of door swings and wall-mounted house numbers.

The galvanised steel frame is powder-coated in a matt black finish that resists UV fade and corrosion in coastal and exposed locations. The horizontal bars across the glass create a shadow pattern on the wall behind when lit from inside, adding visual interest after dark. The fitting is compatible with dimmable E27 LED bulbs when paired with an appropriate external dimmer, allowing light levels to be reduced for evening ambiance or increased for security lighting.

What does the IP54 rating mean for outdoor use?

IP54 indicates the lantern is protected against dust ingress and water splashes from any direction. This makes it suitable for covered porches, under eaves, and exposed wall positions where it will face rain but not submersion or high-pressure water jets.

What bulb should I use?

The Bern takes a standard E27 bulb up to 60W. Most users pair this with a 6-10W LED in warm white (2700K-3000K) for a welcoming glow, or a daylight temperature (4000K-5000K) LED for security lighting. Bulbs are sold separately.

Can it be used on a coastal property?

Yes. The galvanised steel construction with powder-coated finish provides good corrosion resistance in coastal environments. Regular rinsing with fresh water after storms will extend the finish life in salt-air locations.

How is the glass cleaned?
