Description

This light-up decoration sets a single red rose beneath a clear arched cloche, with a gold silhouette of Belle in her ball gown and the words "Bold as a Rose" written in flowing gold script across the dome. Below the bloom, a neon heart outline lights up in red among deep green leaves, fallen petals and mossy greenery, all resting on a pale, natural-toned round base. It stands 17.5cm tall, 11cm wide and 11.5cm deep, a neat size for a shelf, dressing table or bedside table. It is made of plastic, and the colours run from the rich red of the rose and heart to the green leaves and soft gold detail.

It makes a sweet keepsake for the bedroom of a fairy-tale fan aged three to twelve, something to admire on a shelf rather than a toy to play with, and a thoughtful gift for a friend who would enjoy its message. The words on the dome give it a quiet note of encouragement, so it suits anyone who could use a reminder to be brave. As a light, it is for dry rooms indoors: a bedroom, living room, study or hallway console all work well, and with the heart lit it adds a spot of red to a shelf in the evening.

It runs on three AAA batteries, which are not included, so there is no cable to trail across the furniture and it can sit wherever it looks best. The gold lettering and silhouette are a decal on the dome, so dust it with a soft dry cloth rather than rubbing, and keep the whole piece away from water. Fit fresh batteries before you wrap it, and it will be ready to light up the moment it comes out of the paper.
