Description

The Bedford is a 470mm pedestal lantern in black composite with clear seedy glass panels and a single E27 bulb fitting. The lantern body is moulded from weather-resistant composite material rather than metal, giving it corrosion resistance and lower weight than cast aluminium equivalents whilst maintaining the profile of a traditional coach-style lantern. The IP44 rating makes it suitable for exposed outdoor installation on gate posts, pier caps, front walls and driveways.

Designed for mounting on a pier or gate post with a flat top surface, the Bedford pedestal sits on a circular base plate 216mm in diameter and projects approximately 200mm from the mounting surface when viewed from the side. The clear seedy glass has intentional bubble and distortion texture that diffuses the E27 bulb light and creates a softer outdoor glow than plain clear glass, particularly when paired with a warm-white LED filament bulb or traditional incandescent bulb. The lantern suits both period properties with traditional red brick or stone and modern builds using black window frames and charcoal render.

The black finish is a textured powder-coat-style surface applied over the composite body, giving grip and reducing reflections under direct sunlight. The pagoda-style lid with ball finial is a fixed part of the upper section and does not lift off, so bulb changes are made by removing the glass panels from below or by unscrewing the entire lantern body from the base plate. Quoizel backs the Bedford with a 5-year guarantee covering material and construction defects.
