Description
The Beacon Square is a 359mm outdoor wall lantern built from white composite material with four panels of clear hammered glass set into a geometric craftsman-style frame. A single E27 bulb (sold separately, up to 60W) sits behind the glass, and the hammered texture diffuses the light outward in a rippled pattern that reduces glare while maintaining useful illumination levels for entrance lighting.
Designed for porches, patios and exterior doorways, the lantern carries an IP44 rating for protection against solid objects above 1mm and water splashes from any direction. The composite construction resists UV degradation and saltwater corrosion better than painted steel or aluminium, making it suitable for coastal installations and year-round outdoor exposure. The white finish remains colour-stable under UV and does not require repainting.
The lantern measures 359mm high, 203mm wide and projects 228mm from the wall, with the mounting plate fitting standard UK electrical back boxes. The hammered glass panels are set into rebates in the composite frame and sealed with gaskets to maintain the IP rating. The frame uses a horizontal slat detail above and below the main glass panels, creating a layered visual effect characteristic of craftsman and mission-style outdoor lighting.
Kichler covers the Beacon Square with a 5-year manufacturer's guarantee. The composite material does not rust, flake or corrode, and can be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild detergent when needed.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Beacon Square take?
The lantern takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for entrance lighting that matches incandescent warmth.
Is the IP44 rating suitable for fully exposed outdoor walls?
Yes. IP44 provides protection against water splashes from any direction, making the lantern suitable for porches, patios and exterior walls that are exposed to rain. It is not submersible and should not be installed where it will be submerged or directly sprayed with a hose.
How is the composite material maintained?
The white composite finish is UV-stable and does not require painting or sealing. Clean with a damp microfibre cloth and mild detergent when needed. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads which can scratch the surface.
What fixing method does the lantern use?
The mounting plate fixes to a standard UK electrical back box with two screws. The lantern body then attaches to the mounting plate. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with Part P Building Regulations.
