Description

The Beacon BACALM66 is an IP66-rated assist call module designed for accessible washrooms, disabled toilets and care facilities where emergency call functionality is required in wet or outdoor environments. The unit features a brushed stainless steel fascia with a large illuminated call button marked 'Assist Call' and a secondary cancel button, both with high-contrast blue legends for visibility. The IP66 rating protects against powerful water jets and dust ingress, making the module suitable for installation in shower rooms, outdoor accessible toilets and facilities regularly hosed down for cleaning.

The module mounts via a surface box included in the package, allowing installation onto tiled walls, shower cubicles or exterior blockwork without recessing. The call plate measures 125mm wide by 85mm high with a 185mm-deep body behind the faceplate to house the wiring terminals and back box. Once installed, the user presses the illuminated 'Assist Call' button to trigger an alert to the connected alarm system, and can cancel the call by pressing the lower button.

BS8300 compliance ensures the unit meets UK building regulations for accessible toilet facilities, requiring assist call devices to be easily reached from a seated or fallen position. The brushed stainless steel finish resists corrosion in damp environments and maintains a clean appearance under regular disinfectant cleaning. The high-contrast blue labelling meets visibility requirements for users with partial sight, and the large button format suits operation by users with limited dexterity or when wearing gloves.

The module integrates with ESP's Beacon nurse call and alarm systems, typically wired back to a central control panel or nurse station display. The surface mount box simplifies retrofitting into existing facilities without major building work, and the 210g weight of the installed unit means it can be fixed to most wall substrates with appropriate fixings for the material.

Frequently Asked

What does IP66 rating mean for this call module?

IP66 means the module is fully protected against dust ingress and can withstand powerful water jets from any direction. This makes it suitable for wet rooms, outdoor accessible toilets and facilities that are hosed down during cleaning, where a standard indoor call button would fail.

Does the module work standalone or need a control panel?

The Beacon call module is designed to integrate with ESP's Beacon nurse call and alarm systems. It requires wiring back to a central control panel or nurse station display to trigger alerts when the call button is pressed. It does not function as a standalone unit.

Is the surface mount box included?

Yes. The package includes the brushed stainless steel call plate and the surface mount box, allowing installation onto flat wall surfaces without needing to recess the unit into the wall substrate.

What are the BS8300 compliance requirements this meets?

BS8300 is the UK building regulation standard for accessible toilet facilities. It requires assist call devices to be reachable from a seated position or from the floor if a user has fallen, with high-contrast markings for visibility and large buttons for users with limited dexterity. This module meets those requirements.
