Description

The Beacon EVCS Master Station is a 4-line communication control panel designed for emergency voice communication systems in buildings where BS5839-9:2021 compliance is required. The unit integrates Type A and Type B outstations plus assist call points through a single interface, allowing building operators to manage emergency and assistance communications from one central position. The large handset provides full duplex audio, meaning both parties can speak and listen simultaneously without push-to-talk delays.

Installed in building control rooms, reception desks and security stations, the master station handles incoming calls from up to four outstations or assist points at once, with visual indicators showing which line is active. The front panel displays eight numbered call positions with corresponding visual alerts, allowing operators to identify the location of an incoming call before answering. The system accepts backup battery power (BAT7, sold separately) to maintain operation during mains failure, meeting the power continuity requirements of BS5839-9:2021.

The unit measures 400mm wide by 350mm deep by 150mm high and weighs 4.2kg without the optional backup battery installed. The metal enclosure is designed for wall-mounting in plant rooms or behind reception desks where it remains accessible to trained operators but out of general public reach. The handset sits in a cradle on the left side of the front panel, with the numbered call indicators and function buttons arranged to the right.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between Type A and Type B outstations?

Type A outstations are typically used in refuge areas and evacuation lifts, providing two-way communication for people who cannot use stairs during evacuation. Type B outstations are assistance call points in accessible WCs and changing rooms. This master station integrates both types on the same system.

Is the backup battery included?

No. The BAT7 backup battery is required for BS5839-9:2021 compliance but is sold separately. The master station has provision for the battery to be housed within the same enclosure.

How many outstations can it manage?

The 4-line configuration supports up to four simultaneous calls from outstations or assist points. The system can have more than four outstations wired in total, but only four can be active at the same time.

What does full duplex audio mean?

Full duplex allows both the operator and the person at the outstation to speak and listen at the same time, like a normal phone call. This is required by BS5839-9:2021 and contrasts with older simplex systems where only one party could speak at a time.
