Description

A broad drum shade in dual faux silk sits at the heart of this piece, antique gold on the outside with a warm ruby lining that gives the downward light a soft blush. Beneath it, a frosted acrylic diffuser ringed in antique brass spreads the glow and keeps the lamp out of direct view. The metalwork above is finished in antique brass, and the shade spans 60cm, wide enough to hold its own as the main light in a generous room.

We would hang this over a dining table, in a wide hallway or above a stairwell where there is height to give it. The drop adjusts across a long range, so it can sit low over seating or high under a tall ceiling. It takes a single E27 lamp, and where the lamp and dimmer are chosen to suit each other the level can be wound down for evenings. A GLS shape LED is what we would put in it, since the round envelope fills the shade evenly and keeps the diffuser looking uniform. This one belongs indoors, in dry rooms away from steam and splashes.

The shade is fabric over a formed drum, the diffuser is moulded acrylic, and the visible metal carries an aged brass tone that settles well against warm woods and deeper wall colours. For upkeep, run a soft brush or the low setting of a vacuum over the faux silk now and then, and wipe the brasswork and the acrylic with a barely damp cloth once the power is off and everything is cool. Avoid sprays and solvents on the diffuser. It carries a one year warranty.
