Baymont Pendant Light 40cm Antique Gold - Polished Chrome

A single drum shade in dual faux silk hangs from a polished chrome suspension here, antique gold on the outside with a ruby lining that warms the light as it falls. At 40cm across, the shade has enough width to read as a proper shape without dominating the room. It takes one E27 lamp and we would fit an LED GLS globe, up to 20W, which is ample for a shade of this size. Put it on a compatible dimmer with a dimmable lamp and it will take a level down easily.

We reach for this one over a dining table, where the ruby interior gives the light a flattering cast across plates and faces, and in a hallway or on a landing where a bare lampholder would look unfinished. The flex allows a wide range of drops, so it suits a low ceiling as readily as a tall stairwell, and hung in a row along a kitchen island it keeps the line tidy. Dry rooms indoors are its territory, so we would not put it in a bathroom or under a porch.

The metalwork is finished in bright polished chrome, and the shade is faux silk, antique gold outside and ruby within, a combination that looks warmer by lamplight than it does by day. Dust the shade with a soft brush or an upholstery head on low suction, and keep the chrome bright with a dry cloth; nothing wet or abrasive on either. It carries a one year warranty. What size is the shade?

The faux silk shade measures 40cm in diameter and 18cm in height, with the fitting body standing 355mm tall overall.

How low does it hang?

The drop is adjustable from a minimum of 390mm to a maximum of 3.31m, which covers standard ceilings through to stairwells.

Which lamp should I use?

It has one E27 lampholder and we suggest an LED GLS A60 globe of up to 20W. Lamps are supplied separately.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you pair a dimmable lamp with a compatible dimmer. Neither is included with the pendant.

What colour is the inside of the shade?

The lining is ruby, so the light picks up a warm tint as it passes through, while the outer face reads as antique gold.

How do I clean the faux silk?

Use a soft brush or a low suction upholstery head to lift dust. Keep water and cleaning sprays away from the fabric, and wipe the chrome with a dry cloth only.
