Description

Baymont pairs an antique brass suspension with a faux silk drum shade, antique gold on the outside and ruby within, so the light picks up a warm blush as it falls. At 40cm across, the shade is broad and shallow rather than tall, reading as a soft band of colour above the room instead of a heavy column. The lamp holder is E27 and takes a GLS shaped lamp of up to 20W.

This is a good choice over a dining table, a kitchen island or a hallway where you want warmth overhead without a busy silhouette. The drop can be taken up short or let out to a little over 3.3m, so it works in a stairwell as readily as in a flat with ordinary ceilings. It will dim if you pair a dimmable lamp with a matching dimmer, both bought separately. We would put a warm white LED in it and let the ruby lining do the rest.

The frame and ceiling plate carry an antique brass finish, a darkened gold with an aged sheen that sits happily with older furniture and warm woods. Keep it to dry rooms indoors, well away from a bathroom or a porch. Faux silk wants a gentle hand: a soft brush or the low setting on a vacuum lifts dust from the fabric, while the metalwork needs no more than a dry cloth. It carries a one year warranty. The ruby is the lining of this shade rather than a separate option.
