Description

Hung on a satin nickel suspension, the shade is a drum of antique gold faux silk lined in ruby, so the light picks up a warm blush as it falls. It measures 30cm across, wide enough to read as a proper shade rather than a small accent, and the drop can be shortened or let out to suit the ceiling. It takes an E27 lamp, and we would reach for a GLS globe here so the fabric fills evenly.

We hang these over dining tables and kitchen islands, where the ruby lining warms the light falling on a table setting, and in bedrooms and landings where a soft pool of light matters more than brightness. Fit a dimmable lamp and a compatible dimmer and it will run down to a low evening glow. Dry indoor rooms are its place: a sitting room or a hallway rather than a bathroom or a covered porch.

The metalwork carries a satin nickel finish, a soft grey sheen that sits quietly beside brushed taps and handles, while the shade is a faux silk with a smooth, slightly lustrous face.
