Description

Five lamps sit inside a wide drum shade, gold leaf on the outside and white laminate within, held on an antique brass frame that measures 40cm across. Beneath them a frosted acrylic diffuser, ringed in antique brass, closes the underside so the lamps stay out of direct view. What you get is warm reflected colour from the gold, and a soft, even pool of light falling straight down.

This is the fitting we suggest when one central light has to carry a whole room: above a dining table, in a stairwell or hallway with height to spare, or in a sitting room where a smaller pendant would look lost. The shade is generous, so it wants a little air around it rather than a low ceiling and a crowded corner. Each lamp holder takes an E27 lamp up to 20W, and we would use LED GLS globes here; paired with a compatible dimmer and dimmable lamps, the level can be dropped right back for the evening.

The metalwork carries a warm antique brass finish, slightly darkened in tone rather than bright, and the same finish edges the acrylic diffuser so the two read as one piece. Keep it looking well by switching off at the wall and going over the shade with a dry microfibre cloth, then the brasswork with a barely damp one, dried straight away. It carries a one year warranty. The rest of the Baymont range works from the same fittings in different forms, including single light semi flush ceiling fixtures and three light linear pendants, with polished chrome, satin nickel and satin black alongside this antique brass, so a house can be run through in one family of finishes. Lamps are not included.
