Description

A wide fabric drum carried on a satin black suspension, 60cm across and deep enough to read as a proper shade rather than a ring of cloth. The outer skin is faux silk in a grey and white laminate, so it sits soft grey in daylight and warms up once the lamps are on. A frosted acrylic diffuser with a black detail closes the underside, pushing light downward and keeping the lampholders out of sight. The drop can be shortened or let out, so the shade hangs where the room needs it.

Five E27 lampholders behind that diffuser give a broad, even wash rather than a tight pool, which suits a long dining table, a hall with height to spare, or a sitting room where one lamp would never carry the space. We would fit LED GLS lamps, up to 20W each, and choose warm white if the walls are pale. It will dim, given suitable lamps and a dimmer, neither of which comes with it.

The metalwork is finished in satin black throughout, with the acrylic diffuser held below the fabric drum. Keep it looking right by lifting dust from the fabric with a soft brush or a vacuum upholstery head, and wiping the acrylic with a barely damp cloth once the lamps have gone cold. It carries a one year warranty. Lamps are not included. Elsewhere in the range we stock universal flush and semi-flush fittings, one of them in this same satin black, plus linear pendants in polished chrome, antique brass and satin nickel for anyone who would rather choose shades themselves.
