Description

A slim satin nickel bar carries three small drum shades in a row, each 12cm across, wrapped in taupe faux silk with a halo gold lining that warms the light on its way down. The proportions are deliberately modest: the shades sit shallow and close together, so the fitting reads as one quiet horizontal line rather than a row of competing pendants.

We reach for a linear pendant like this over a kitchen island, a run of worktop or a long dining table, where separate pendants would look busy and a single shade would leave the ends of the table dim. The drop is adjustable over a generous span, which makes it as workable under a low cottage ceiling as in a room with height to spare. It takes E27 lamps and we would fit LED golf balls, up to 20W each, since anything larger will crowd a shade of this size. With suitable lamps and a compatible dimmer, the light comes down nicely for evening meals.

The shade is a dual faux silk, taupe on the outside and halo gold within, and the metalwork above it is finished in satin nickel, soft rather than mirror bright. Keep it to sheltered indoor rooms; steam and splashes are not its element. For care, brush the silk lightly with a soft dry brush and lift dust from the nickel with a barely damp cloth, drying it straight after. It carries a one year warranty. The same taupe and halo gold shade also appears on Baymont flush fittings in white and in polished chrome, if you want two rooms to tally. Lamps are not included.
