Description

The Basmorne is a round flush ceiling light: a compact aluminium cylinder with a black outer body and a gold interior that has a crinkled texture like gold leaf. It stands 12cm tall and measures 10cm across, so it sits neatly against the ceiling rather than hanging down into the room. It takes a single GU10 bulb, which is not included, so you choose the colour of light and the brightness yourself. It is rated IP20, which settles where it goes: indoors, in rooms that stay dry.

Because it is so small and sits flush, it suits hallways, landings, bedrooms and living rooms where a pendant would crowd the space or the ceiling is low. A single one gives a tidy pool of light over a doorway or a reading chair, and a row of them along a corridor gives an even run of light. The black body reads clearly against a white ceiling, which is why we like it in modern and industrial schemes, while the gold inside catches the light whenever the bulb is lit.
