The Basis is a 604mm linear track light designed for Maytoni's Magnetic Exility system, housing an integrated 24W LED with DALI-controlled dimming and adjustable colour temperature from 2700K warm white through to 6000K cool white. The track light clips magnetically onto the Exility rail, drawing DC 48V power through the magnetic contact points rather than requiring hardwired installation.

Designed for offices, retail displays, gallery spaces and kitchens where lighting needs change throughout the day or across different tasks, the DALI protocol allows each track light to be individually addressed and controlled via a compatible DALI controller. This means colour temperature and brightness can be adjusted independently for each light on the rail, creating zones of different light quality within a single space. The linear form distributes light evenly along its 604mm length, providing task lighting over desks, worktops or display shelving without creating the single-point hotspot of a spotlight.

The white powder-coated aluminium body measures 23mm wide by 44mm deep, maintaining a low-profile presence when mounted on the track. The IP20 rating suits dry indoor environments. The adjustable colour temperature means the same fixture can provide warm accent lighting at 2700K in the evening or cooler task lighting at 4000-5000K during working hours, without needing to swap bulbs or fixtures. What is the Magnetic Exility system and is it required?

This track light is designed exclusively for Maytoni's Magnetic Exility rail system. It cannot be fitted to standard track lighting systems. The light clips magnetically onto the Exility rail and draws DC 48V power through magnetic contact points, allowing tool-free repositioning along the rail.

How is the colour temperature adjusted?

Colour temperature and dimming are controlled via a DALI-compatible controller connected to the Exility rail system. Each track light can be individually addressed, allowing different colour temperatures and brightness levels across multiple lights on the same rail. A DALI controller is required and sold separately.

Can this be used in bathrooms or outdoor covered areas?

No. The IP20 rating means this track light is only suitable for dry indoor environments. It is not rated for bathroom zones or outdoor use, even under cover.

What length of track rail does this light cover?

The 604mm length provides even linear light distribution along approximately 60cm of the track. For longer runs, multiple Basis lights can be spaced along the Exility rail to provide continuous coverage or to create zoned lighting with different colour temperatures in different areas.
