Description

The Basfor is a 12-light crystal flush ceiling light built on a gold-plated metal frame in a tiered bowl structure, 46cm diameter and 29.5cm projection from ceiling. The frame supports three layers of diamond-cut crystal droplets and elongated crystal spears arranged in concentric rings, with a single faceted crystal finial at the base. The twelve E14 bulbs (sold separately) sit behind the upper tier of crystals, casting light through the crystal layers to create prismatic reflections across the surrounding surfaces.

Designed as a flush-mount fitting for rooms with standard or lower ceiling heights, the Basfor suits entrance halls, dining rooms and living rooms where a 2.3-2.5m ceiling precludes a traditional suspension chandelier. The 32cm fixed height from ceiling to finial leaves clearance in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry interior spaces only. The gold-plated finish gives the frame a warm metallic tone that pairs with traditional, classical and warm contemporary interiors.

The crystal elements are arranged in three distinct patterns: small faceted beads form the uppermost tier around the canopy, elongated spears create the middle tier, and a mix of both styles fills the lower bowl. Each crystal is individually wired onto the frame, creating density and visual weight when lit. The combined metal and crystal construction gives the fitting substantial presence at approximately 5kg, requiring a ceiling joist or reinforced plasterboard fixing rather than a standard hollow-wall anchor.

The fitting takes twelve E14 small Edison screw bulbs, each rated up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with 4-6W LED candle bulbs in warm white (2700K-3000K) to balance light output with energy efficiency and avoid excessive heat build-up behind the crystals.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The fixed 32cm projection from ceiling to finial makes the Basfor a flush-mount option for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, where a traditional drop chandelier would hang too low. The tiered bowl structure directs most light outwards and downwards rather than requiring overhead clearance.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating restricts the Basfor to dry interior spaces only. It cannot be installed in bathrooms, wet rooms, or any location subject to direct moisture or steam.

How is the crystal maintained?

Individual crystals can be wiped with a dry microfibre cloth while the fitting is switched off and cool. For deeper cleaning, crystals can be removed from their wire mounts, washed in warm water with a drop of washing-up liquid, rinsed, dried thoroughly and re-attached. Avoid spraying cleaners directly onto the gold-plated frame.
