Description

The Basalgo is a slim smart LED bollard light: a black stainless steel column 45cm tall and 10.5cm in diameter, topped by a white plastic shade beneath a flat black cap. It takes a single E27 bulb rated at 9W, gives out 1,300lm and is dimmable. Its IP44 rating settles the question of where it can go: it is protected from splashing water, so it can stand outdoors in a garden, beside a path or at the edge of a terrace.

We think it suits anyone who wants a garden light that does more than plain white. The colour temperature is adjustable, so you can settle on a warm tone for evenings on the patio or a cooler white for the walk to the front door. Switch to the colour-changing RGB setting and the shade glows in green or another colour of your choosing, which is a lovely way to mark a party or pick out a border after dark. Its slim column sits neatly among planting or along the edge of a drive, and with 1,300lm from a 9W bulb it gives a useful amount of light for its size.

The body is stainless steel in a black finish, and stainless steel resists rust, which counts for a lot in a light that stays outside. You control the settings from an app; it also works with a remote control, which is sold separately. There is no switch on the light itself, because it is switched at the wall, and it runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains with an energy class of E. As a wired-in mains light, it should be installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. With a packed weight of 1.241KG, it is easy for one person to carry to the spot you have chosen.
