Description

The Barbano is a smart LED flush ceiling light built from three overlapping round drum shades, one noticeably larger than the others. Each has grey fabric sides and a white plastic diffuser, and all three are gathered on a black steel body at the centre. It measures 60.5cm long, 56.5cm wide and just 9cm high, so it sits close to the ceiling while still covering a generous area. The LEDs are integrated, three at 7.5W each, giving 850 lumens from each of the three lights. It is rated IP20, which means it belongs indoors in dry rooms.

Because it sits so low, it suits rooms with standard or lower ceilings where a pendant would hang in the way: a living room, a study, a bedroom or a hallway. The colour temperature runs from a warm 2700K to a crisp 6500K, so you can keep the light soft for the evening and cool and clear for reading or working at a desk. It is dimmable too, and it can change colour when you want a wash of colour for a film night or a party. The grey and white shades sit quietly against a pale ceiling, and the black centre gives the arrangement a defined core.

Control is through an app, and it also works with a remote control, which is sold separately. There is no switch on the fitting itself, so you turn it on and off at the wall. The body is steel, and the shades pair fabric sides with plastic diffusers; a light dusting with a soft, dry cloth keeps the fabric looking fresh. As a mains light that is wired in, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. Packed, it weighs 3.839kg, so a second pair of hands is useful on fitting day.

Frequently Asked

Can the Barbano go in a bathroom or outdoors?

No. It is rated IP20, which means it is made for indoor rooms that stay dry, such as a living room, bedroom or study, and it should not be placed near water.

How bright is this ceiling light?

It has three integrated LED lights at 7.5W each, and each one gives 850 lumens. It is dimmable, so you can bring the level down whenever you want a softer room.

Can I change the colour of the light?

Yes. The colour temperature adjusts from a warm 2700K to a cool 6500K, and it is also colour-changing (RGB), so you can choose coloured light as well as white.

How do I control the Barbano?

It is controlled by an app. It also works with a remote control, which is sold separately and does not come in the box. There is no switch on the fitting, so it is switched at the wall.

How big is the Barbano ceiling light?

It is 60.5cm long, 56.5cm wide and 9cm high, so it stays close to the ceiling while spreading its three shades across a good area.

What materials and finish does it have?

The body is black steel, and the three shades have grey fabric sides and white plastic diffusers, giving a soft, even look in a neutral palette.
